Job Description:


We are seeking a highly skilled Safety and Risk Management Specialist (or a group of external experts) to oversee and enhance the safety protocols of our outdoor education programs. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants and staff, and can be performed on a hybrid or remote basis, with a preference for individuals based in Asia or Southeast Asia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
    • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for all outdoor activities and program locations.
    • Develop and implement effective risk management strategies and protocols.
    • Regularly review and update safety procedures to align with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Safety Training and Education:
    • Design and deliver safety training programs for staff and leaders, focusing on risk management, emergency response, and first aid.
    • Ensure all staff are adequately trained and certified in relevant safety protocols.
    • Create educational materials and resources to support ongoing safety training efforts.
  • Incident Management:
    • Develop and oversee the implementation of incident response plans, including emergency evacuation procedures.
    • Lead the investigation and documentation of any incidents or near-misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
    • Maintain detailed records of all safety-related incidents and training activities.
  • Collaboration and Consultation:
    • Work closely with program coordinators, outdoor leaders, and other staff to ensure safety protocols are integrated into all program activities.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related inquiries and concerns.
    • Collaborate with external safety experts and organizations to stay current with industry standards and innovations.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and protocols, making adjustments as necessary.
    • Stay informed about emerging risks and new safety technologies in the outdoor education field.
    • Foster a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement within the organization.


  • Experience and Expertise:
    • Extensive experience in safety and risk management, preferably within the outdoor education or adventure industry.
    • Proven track record of developing and implementing safety protocols and training programs.
    • Experience working in Asia and Southeast Asia is highly preferred.
  • Certifications:
    • Relevant safety certifications such as Wilderness First Responder (WFR), Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC), or equivalent.
    • Additional certifications in risk management or related fields are advantageous.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and detail-oriented approach.
