FAQ
Every participant and school receives a pre-program briefing with the information needed to prepare for the experience.
Who can join Autumn Camps?
Autumn Camps are designed for children and young people who are interested in exploring the outdoors, developing practical skills, meeting new people and learning through experience. Programs are organised by age and developmental stage to ensure that activities, challenges and learning outcomes are appropriate for participants.
What age groups are available?
Autumn Camps can be offered across different age groups, with program design, activity intensity and learning outcomes adapted to participants’ developmental needs.
Typical age groups may include:
- 8–12 years old: Kids Camp
- 13–15 years: Teens Camp
Does my child need previous outdoor experience?
No. Most Autumn Camps are designed for beginners as well as participants with previous outdoor experience.
Our approach is based on Challenge by Choice. Participants are supported to develop skills progressively and encouraged to challenge themselves at an appropriate level.
For advanced or expedition-level programs, specific prerequisite skills or fitness requirements may apply.
What happens if it rains?
Outdoor learning does not stop simply because it rains.
Vietnam’s weather is part of the outdoor environment, and appropriate activities may continue when conditions are safe. Programs are designed with alternative activities, sheltered learning spaces and weather contingency plans.
If weather conditions create unacceptable risks—such as thunderstorms, flooding, strong winds or unsafe water conditions—the program may be modified, postponed or moved to a safer location.
Safety always comes first.
What equipment should participants bring?
Participants receive a program-specific Packing List before the camp.
Depending on the program, this may include:
- Comfortable outdoor clothing
- Long trousers and suitable footwear
- Hat and sun protection
- Personal water bottle
- Personal hygiene items
- Insect repellent
- Rain jacket or rain protection
- Personal medication, where applicable
- Small personal backpack
TMT provides or manages program-specific equipment such as technical outdoor equipment, activity equipment and safety equipment according to the program requirements.
Participants should not bring unnecessary valuables or electronic devices unless specifically requested by the program.
How are dietary requirements handled?
We ask families or schools to provide dietary and allergy information during registration.
Where possible, meals can be adapted to accommodate food allergies, dietary restrictions and specific dietary requirements.
For serious allergies or medically significant dietary needs, participants should provide complete information before the program so that the TMT team can assess and plan appropriate arrangements.
How is safety managed?
Safety is integrated into every stage of program design and delivery.
TMT’s approach includes:
- Activity-specific risk assessment
- Qualified and trained outdoor instructors
- Appropriate instructor-to-participant ratios
- Participant briefings and safety instructions
- Equipment checks and maintenance
- Weather and environmental monitoring
- Emergency Action Plans
- First-aid preparedness
- Child safeguarding procedures
- Incident and near-miss reporting
- Continuous supervision and dynamic risk assessment
Our goal is not to eliminate every challenge. It is to create appropriate, managed challenges that support meaningful learning.
Can schools book private programs?
Yes.
Schools can request private or customised Autumn Camp programs designed around their students, learning objectives, schedule and curriculum.
Custom programs can include:
- Outdoor Education
- Leadership Development
- Team Development
- Environmental Education
- Community Engagement
- Expedition Learning
- School Transition Programs
- Student Wellbeing & Personal Development
Schools can also work with TMT to develop longer-term outdoor learning pathways rather than a single camp experience.
Can international students participate?
Yes.
Autumn Camps can welcome international students and participants from different cultural backgrounds.
Programs can be delivered in English or adapted for multilingual groups, depending on the program.
TMT also designs customised outdoor learning experiences for international schools, visiting student groups and overseas educational organisations travelling to Vietnam.
What happens in an emergency?
Every program has an appropriate Emergency Action Plan (EAP) based on the location, activities, group profile and foreseeable risks.
In an emergency, the TMT team will:
1. Stabilise the situation
Protect participants and control immediate risks.
2. Assess
Evaluate the condition and determine the appropriate response.
3. Provide first aid / immediate care
Within the team’s level of training and available resources.
4. Activate emergency procedures
Contact the appropriate local emergency services or medical facilities when required.
5. Communicate
Notify the designated school or parent contact according to the program’s communication protocol.
6. Document and review
Record the incident and conduct an appropriate post-incident review.
Parents and schools receive relevant information according to the seriousness and circumstances of the incident.
