What progression means
Select any level above to view its proposed scope, readiness evidence and possible opportunities.
Evidence matters
Progress should reflect observed performance, relevant qualifications, reliable conduct and the requirements of each assignment.
No automatic entitlement
A level does not guarantee bookings, income, a contract, a promotion or access to every type of activity.
MT PRINCIPLES
MT Principles establish the foundation for all collaborations between The Mountain Tribe and its Freelancers. Every Freelancer is responsible for reading, understanding, and following these principles before accepting an assignment.
01. NO MERCY.
NO FRIENDSHIPS AT WORK.
No personal favoritism. No handling work matters through friendships. All decisions are based on principles, competence, and accountability.
02. CHALLENGE BY CHOICE.
You have the freedom to accept or decline an assignment before making a commitment. Once you accept, you are accountable for fulfilling that commitment.
03. READ CODE OF CONDUCT.
Read, understand, and comply with TMT’s Code of Conduct, operational standards, safety requirements, and professional responsibilities.
🎯 MT ORIENTATION & CASE STUDIES
Real-life case studies involving collaboration, professional conduct, safety, equipment and property, client relationships, and workplace accountability will be presented and discussed during the Orientation session. Freelancers are expected to understand how to apply MT Principles to practical situations, rather than simply memorize the statements.
How the pathway works
A simple, repeatable process helps collaborators understand what is expected and gives TMT a consistent basis for matching people to work.

Benefits & responsibilities
Clear expectations protect participants, support collaborators and help project teams work reliably together.
| Area | What collaborators may receive | What collaborators are responsible for |
|---|---|---|
| Opportunities | Consideration for suitable assignments based on availability, fit and readiness. | Respond honestly about availability, accept only work they can deliver and confirm commitments in writing. |
| Learning & development | Access to relevant briefings, feedback, practice or development opportunities where offered. | Prepare, participate, ask questions, maintain a learning record and act on feedback. |
| Professional profile | Potential to build a documented record of completed assignments and demonstrated skills, subject to TMT process and consent. | Provide accurate information, protect confidential information and request corrections to records when needed. |
| Payment & expenses | Clear assignment terms covering fee, payment schedule, approved expenses and cancellation terms before work begins. | Review and agree terms in advance, submit required records/invoices and disclose conflicts of interest. |
| Safety & safeguarding | Clear briefings, role boundaries, reporting channels and access to relevant operational procedures. | Follow risk controls, safeguarding rules and instructions; stop and report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately. |
| Team & community | Respectful collaboration, clear communication and recognition of contribution where appropriate. | Respect participants, colleagues, local communities, culture, property and the natural environment. |
| Progression | Transparent feedback and consideration for expanded scope when evidence and project needs support it. | Demonstrate consistent conduct and capability; maintain any mandatory qualifications and stay within authorised scope. |
Benefits are subject to the specific assignment agreement and TMT policies. Do not assume paid training, guaranteed hours, free equipment, insurance or promotion unless explicitly confirmed in writing.
Every collaborator owns the basics
These expectations apply regardless of level. Higher responsibility means a wider duty to prepare, communicate, document and support others.
Safety & scope
Work only within demonstrated competence and authorised responsibilities. Never present an unverified qualification as current or recognised.
Professional conduct
Be punctual, respectful, prepared and accountable. Follow the code of conduct, safeguarding requirements and participant privacy rules.
Communication & records
Confirm instructions, raise issues early, complete required logs and incident reports, and keep client and participant information confidential.
Learning & stewardship
Seek feedback, reflect on performance, care for equipment and places, and respect local knowledge and community agreements.
